Overview of activity –

Join an immersive 3 hour guided plant walk around the welcoming and beautiful Easton Walled Gardens estate and its surrounding grounds to discover and learn the wealth of natural resources in our hedgerows, lawns, forests and fields.

Your guide Adam Logan has over two decades experience teaching wild food, foraging, survial training and wilderness bushcrtaft skills across the UK, Europe and Canada and will help you learn how to identify and use wild plants, trees and seasonally available fungi for a range of purposes from food, locating water, directional indicators, natural cordage, weaving, bow making, tanning, and fire lighting.

Throughout the tour there will be hand made craft items available to handle and ask questions to bring the resources we find to life, towards the end of the session we will look at the ever fascinating friction fire lighting technique, the bow drill!

How to find the activity start location –

Please follow the directions provided by Easton Walled Gardens here.

Upon arrival walk from the main customer car park down hill a short way to find the courtyard area and coffee shop on your left hand side after passing through a gate. We will gather outside the courtyard coffee shop. Please aim to arrive 5 – 10 minutes before your tour start time so we can check you in.

What will you learn –

You will learn how to identify plants safely by careful note of relevant features, plants will be referred to by both botanical and common names as there is much to learn from each as well as an apreciation of which family a species belongs to.

Some of the tour will focus on utility craft items brought along to show how these have been important for human kind throughout history from the stoneage; bows and arrows, tanned hides, bark and woven containers and cordage. Much of the information shared is to highlight the universal availability of these resources across the British Isles even in your back yard or home lawn!
